Garmin GWX 68 Radar
Garmin International has annouced the release of its new GWX 68 weather radar sensor.
In conjunction with the annoucement of their new GMX 200 Multi Function Display, the GWX 68 is intended to be the radar sensor interface to this new MFD.
The GWX 68 features most of the same features as many current production digital radar sensors from other manufacturer's such as the ART-2000 from Honeywell. These features includes a 6.5 kw magnetron, 10 or 12 inch antenna array, pitch/roll stablilzation, and horizontal & vertical scan modes.
In comparison to the Honeywell ART-2000, the GWX 68 does offer some savings for those considering a suitable weather radar interface for their MFD. However, no details have been released by Garmin regarding the compatibility and interface possibilities with non-Garmin radar displays and MFDs.

KHF-950 Update
Recently Bendix/King (Honeywell) discontinued production of the popular KHF-950 HF Communications System. They are no longer accepting any new orders for this system. They have replaced this need in their avionics product line with the HF-1050 System.
The HF-1050 is not a direct replacement for the KHF-950. Its design and configuration differ in many ways from the KHF-950. Furthermore, it is currently backordered from Honeywell for 60 days as of January 2006.
Due to the popularity and widespread applications of the KHF-950, Southeast Aerospace does not see demand for this system decreasing anytime soon. With no practical or comparable HF options available from other manufacturers, the KHF-950 will continue to be the choice for many considering HF systems.
As of January 2006, Southeast Aerospace currently has backorders of over 20 systems for the KHF-950. As the supply continues to shorten while demand continues to be high, Southeast Aerospace cannot provide long term forecasts or information in reference to the KHF-950 system. That is, we are unable to guarantee the validity of the system price or availability for future reference.
Southeast Aerospace has been and will continue to aggressively search for and pursue any systems we can acquire. Since these are overhauled systems, there is not an unlimited supply available on the market at any given time. Therefore, until backorders are filled and additional inventory procured, we will not be able to provide a realistic quotation at this time.
If you would like to receive periodic updates from Southeast Aerospace regarding pricing and availability, please use our Quote Request Form or email us with your requirements. If you are interested in considering another system for your HF application, Southeast Aerospace currently has Collins HF-220 and HF-230 systems available at prices well below the current inflated price of the KHF-950.
PMA8000B New Features
PS Engineering has announces the PMA8000B adding more improvements and features to the multitude of existing advanced features on the PMA8000 audio panel.
A new front panel multipurpose jack allows easy connection for portable music devices such as an iPod. Or, for Garmin GPSMAP 396 owner/operators, this jack comes in handy for the 396 audio output. The jack is automatically configured to the crew while alert messages are not muted for the pilot and co-pilot.
With the new "Smart Function Keys" (SFK), a pilot can now customize his or her audio panel to fit particular needs. Newly added voice prompting advises the pilot of the exact audio panel configuration for the selected modes.
As a bonus, PS Engineering has now included their Internal Recording System (IRS) as a standard feature. That's a $150 savings! IRS allows the pilot to quickly play back up to 8 messages through a front panel key.
With these new features, PS Engineering enhances the value of an already superb audio panel design. The PMA8000B is an unsurpassed audio management unit that is ideal for the selective avionics consumer.
Garmin Terrain Update for GNS-430/530 series
Add terrain advisory capability to any Garmin GNS-400 and 500 series GPS/Nav/Comms for only $500 !
Although it is not TAWS certifiable, this terrain upgrade provides valuable information about the general terrain environment in relation to GPS position and any approaching terrain conflicts.
The modification consists of a software and hardware update that can only be performed by an authorized Garmin dealer or the factory direct.
Southeast Aerospace has procured several upgrade kits to accommodate the demand for this practical upgrade. In aviation terms, the cost of this upgrade is minimal considering the benefits and safety features it provides.
If you are interested in adding this great new feature to the already expansive capabilities of the Garmin line of GNS-430/530 units, please contact

to discuss your possibilities with us.
SEA EASA Approved
Southeast Aerospace is proud to announce approval by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
On 28 September 2003, the EASA assumed responsibility for the airworthiness certification of all aeronautical parts and products designed, manufactured, and used under the regulatory control of European Union member sates. This also includes certification activities including the repairs of aviation products and their components.
Due to increasing air traffic growth in Europe, the aviation community felt that citizens needed to be assured that the aircraft (and its components) are operated and maintained to the highest safety standards. In addition, the implementation of the EASA will establish and maintain a uniform level of civil aviation safety in Europe. This system will also ensure a single European market for the aviation industry without competitive disruption. While the JAA (Joint Aviation Authority) did provide an effort to coordinate procedures and standards in European countries, differences in applications of JAA rules existed. The EASA has taken over the responsibility from the national authorities of its 25 European Union members setting in place equal and constant standards that cannot be deviated from or added to by national authorities from individual countries.
As a worldwide supplier of avionics sales and service, Southeast Aerospace is proud to be a part of the EASA's effort to uphold and maintain higher standards of quality in aviation in Europe.
Prewired Harnesses Available
Want to save time and money with your next avionics installation? Southeast Aerospace is now offering prewired harness fabrication services for all avionics products available. Harnesses available for all avionics items such as audio panels, GPS, transponder, weather radar, datalink, ADF, TAWS, Nav, DME, Comm and much more. Prices start at $150 with minimal lead-times.
Unlike some prewired harnesses available on the avionics market, our prewired harnesses are built to order per each and every customer specification. In other words, our custom harnesses are not merely open wires hanging from one end of a connector as you may have seen in the past from other avionics sales companies. All harness wires are properly labeled, grounded, and terminated where needed. Our installation department only uses the best quality shielded wire and other specialty wire where called out by the installation manual. As indicated previously, our harnesses are built to order. Once customer dictated cable lengths and other related aircraft specifications are obtained, the harness is customized for each particular need. This is ideal so the installer is not battling with extraordinarily long or short harnesses with unmarked or extraneous wires.
Experience the Difference!
Please contact Southeast Aerospace for next avionics wiring or installation needs.
