When Dogs Fly – Good Things Happen

What does it take to rescue animals in bad situations and move them to safe locations hundreds of miles away? It takes a dedicated organization, with devoted volunteers, and a network of pilots with a love of animals.

arf-logoAnimal Rescue Flights (ARF) was organized in 2008 by a group of pilots who wanted to offer their time, skills, and aircraft to transport animals from overcrowded kill shelters to rescue groups where they could be adopted by loving families. With the help of volunteer pilots, cabin crews, planners, drivers, rescue, and shelter volunteers ARF is able to change the lives of distressed animals and the lives of the families that adopt them. • Every year 6-8 million dogs and cats enter shelters across the United States.
  • Each year 3-4 million of those dogs and cats are adopted by loving families.
  • The remaining 3-4 million dogs and cats are euthanized every year.

Animal Rescue Flight’s continued goal is to provide pilots, shelters, rescues, and transport organizations with the information they need for the safe and legal transportation of animals for adoption and to aggressively promote the benefits and importance of spaying and neutering to prevent tomorrow’s animals from becoming today’s rescues.
