Parts and Aircraft Painter/Helper

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS:
The duties of the Parts and Aircraft Painter/Helper requires the application of paint coatings to aircraft parts, aircraft part assemblies, and aircraft interior and exterior surfaces in accordance with customer specifications, manufacturer’s specifications and/or blueprints. Responsibilities include other duties assisting operations in the Structural Fabrication Department.

Salary: DOE $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Prepare surfaces to receive primer/paint.
  • Accurately track and record materials being used.
  • Follow proper safety procedures.
  • Maintain materials locker and ensure products being used have not exceeded their shelf life.
  • Clean and maintain all equipment associated with the coatings process.
  • Repair or restore any damaged finish (e.g. touch-up paining and polishing)
  • Help maintain a clean shop and break area
  • Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines
  • Wear an anti-dust mask whilst sanding a surface or a solvent-respirator if working with solvent-based products
  • Adhere to all Southeast Aerospace company policies, safety guidelines, and code of ethical conduct
  • In adhering to company polices, all employees are subject to random drug and alcohol tests
  • This position is also subject to random drug and alcohol testing under DOT and FAA regulations

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience.
  • Must be able to achieve a high quality finish on various substrates including aluminum, composites and polycarbonate using various paint systems including but not limited to water based, polyurethane, enamel and epoxy primers and topcoats.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, work instructions, customer specifications and manufacturers manuals.
  • Must be team-oriented with good interpersonal skills
  • Acceptable background check for required matters
  • Lawful US Person as defined in US Code 8 U.S.C. 1342b(a)(3).
REQUIREMENTS
  • Normal work day is 8 hours Monday thru Friday
  • Overtime hours required.
  • Working conditions will most often include an open aircraft hangar environment which is exposed to various ambient conditions that can be loud due to aircraft engines and equipment.
  • The conditions of the painting and coating profession can be physically demanding at times (i.e. you are likely to be exposed to toxins and must use safety precautions to lessen any risk). All organic-based solvents (e.g. white spirit, solvent-based paints, solvent-based thinners and primers and paint strippers) represent potential health hazards and therefore require that particular precautions be taken both in their usage and storage.
  • Sanding, cleaning and painting can require standing for long periods of time and can be physically demanding on arms and upper body.
  • Bending, squatting, working from ladders, and lifting.
