AFIS or Aerodrome Flight Information Services is information useful for the safe operation of aircraft traffic at airport areas designated by international general aviation. Information includes weather information, usable runways or any other airport related information critical for safe operation. In relation to avionics systems, AFIS compatible systems provide air to ground communication to receive and display this information.
