No. Although, the KI-825 uses the same two 41 pin type connectors that the KI-525 has, there are several wiring differences between them. Also, the KI-825 has a third 50 pin connector that is used for the expanded features of the KI-825 such as Nav/GPS switching. The KI-825 utilizes a configuration module to store settings and parameters that must be programmed into the KI-825 to use the additional functions and features of it.
Many avionics systems require a configuration or setup process. This process is required to interface certain avionics systems to other systems in the aircraft that will be inputting or outputting information to and from these systems. Some examples of systems that require a configuration or setup process include:

Autopilot
EFIS
GPS
EGPWS
EHSI
RADAR
TAWS
TCAS

In addition, most newer technology or solid state systems require configuration via computer interface of some type. A qualified avionics technician should always refer to the appropriate manufacturer's installation manual for complete information and instructions.
Southeast Aerospace exchanges are based on the return of an undamaged, economically repairable core unit with identical part number as the unit shipped to the customer. An "economically repairable" core is defined as one where the cost to repair/overhaul (or Repair Cap) does not exceed 80% of the original SV/OH exchange price billed. Should the Repair Cap exceed 80%, the customer will be billed the additional amount. In the event this amount exceeds the Outright Price for the unit, the customer would only be billed the difference between the Outright Price and SV/OH Exchange Price with the core returned as-is to the customer.

Here is an example of such a transaction:

$1000 Exchange Price charged to customer
$1000 x .8 = $800 Maximum Allowable core repair charge or Repair Cap

$2000 Cost to repair core unit
- $800 Less Core repair cap
---------
$1200 Additional billing amount.

2200.00 Total Cost of transaction

Please Note:
SEA offers exchange on new items as well. However, repair cap as indicated above is still based on SV/OH exchange price.
The KCM-100 configuration module can interface to the KI-825 to retain programming information in case of unit replacement. If the configuration module is not interfaced to the KI-825, then the configuration data will be stored only in the internal non-volatile memory of the KI-825.
Yes, Honeywell Sales Bulletin 2011-26 enable the KI-825 to display WAAS vertical deviation when GPS is selected as the nav source. Connection to a WAAS GPS receiver is required.

The upgrade enables the KI-825 to display vertical and lateral deviations when the active sensor is WAAS GPS. This allows the autopilot to be coupled to the KI-825 display when flying an LPV WAAS Precision Approach. The upgrade also enables autopilot outputs and display of lateral deviations and vertical guidance when on other types of WAAS GPS approaches.
