One Feburary 6th 2025, Garmin announced a new software update for slimline GTR-205 and GNC-215 radios.
With software update v2.22, the GTR-205 can serve as an all-in-one radio and stereo intercom. A two-place intercom and
speaker output allows communication between the pilot and passenger. The update also includes Bluetooth functionality for phone calls and media entertainment. Music can be streamed from a personal electronic device
via Bluetooth. The song and artist can be seen on the GTR-205 display. Music playback controls allow pilots to play, pause, skip or repeat tracks without needing to access their device. Pilots can receive incoming calls, view phone numbers, end calls, and see connected device’s signal strength and battery life right on the GTR 205 display.
Active and standby frequencies are separated in the headset making it easier for the pilot to differentiate between sources. For easy intercom use, auto squelch will automatically sense noise level in the cockpit and adjust the microphone accordingly. Equalizer and Bass Boost settings on the radio also allow for an even more customized listening experience. The radios include up to four AUX inputs that can now be used for audio alerts and more, with two capable of optional stereo pairing.
The updated v2.22 software has received TSO-A approval and is at no additional cost.
