Garmin Unveils Their Latest and Greatest:
AXIS™ FLIGHT DISPLAYS
Garmin introduces AXIS™, an all-new family of flight displays designed to simplify cockpit integration while delivering advanced avionics capabilities for certified piston aircraft, experimental, and light sport aircraft. Built with flexibility in mind, AXIS combines modern touchscreen technology, intuitive controls, and a scalable architecture to create a next-generation flight deck.
What sets AXIS apart is its industry-first integration. Select 11.6-inch display models combine an IFR GPS navigator, NAV/COM radio, COMM radio, and audio panel into a single unit. By consolidating multiple avionics into one display, AXIS reduces panel complexity, minimizes aircraft weight, and streamlines installation while providing pilots with a seamless user experience.
The AXIS family includes 11.6-inch and upcoming 8-inch display options, each configurable as either a Primary Flight Display (PFD) or Multi-Function Display (MFD) with engine indication system (EIS) information available as part of either configuration. Pilots benefit from high-resolution touchscreen controls, customizable screen layouts, integrated engine monitoring, synthetic vision, dynamic mapping, ADS-B traffic and weather compatibility, airport diagrams, and enhanced situational awareness tools.
Safety remains a key focus of the AXIS platform. Garmin has incorporated advanced technologies such as Smart Glide™, which can help guide an aircraft toward a suitable landing airport following an engine power loss, along with Runway Occupancy Awareness (ROA) and optional SurfaceWatch™ to improve runway safety. A dedicated emergency button provides pilots with quick access to emergency procedures when needed.
AXIS also offers extensive connectivity through built-in Wi-Fi, Bluetooth®, USB-C, and compatibility with the Garmin Pilot™ app. Pilots can wirelessly transfer flight plans, databases, weather information, and flight logs while taking advantage of PlaneSync™ capabilities for aircraft status monitoring and automatic database management.
For aircraft owners upgrading from Garmin's G3X Touch™ system, AXIS was designed with an easy transition in mind. The new displays are compatible with many existing Garmin sensors, modules, and panel cutouts, helping reduce installation time and cost while preserving previous investments.
With its innovative all-in-one design, advanced safety features, and flexible upgrade path, Garmin AXIS represents a significant step forward in integrated avionics, delivering a cleaner panel, enhanced situational awareness, and a more connected flying experience.
