Overview

The Avionics Systems Engineer duties are defined but not limited to system integration and installation design for complex avionics, electronics and electrical systems on helicopters and fixed wing airplanes including air transport.

Responsibilities

  • Define systems integration and interface with existing onboard avionics, electronics and electrical systems and generate systems wiring diagrams for the defined systems integration and interface
  • Create electrical fabrication drawings (wire harness, coax cable, electrical/electronic assembly) for the defined systems integration and interface
  • Create on aircraft installation drawings for the defined systems integration and interface
  • Create detailed wire routing and clamping drawings for the defined systems integration and interface
  • Generate parts list in Microsoft Excel and import into AutoCAD drawing for the installation and fabrication drawing
  • Convert design data to Portable Document Format (PDF) files
  • Create aircraft modification instructions (Engineering Order) with weight and balance and electrical load changes
  • Create instructions for continued airworthiness and Technical publication such as AMM, IPC, FCOM, AWD, etc.
  • Calculate modification or complete electrical load and generate the electrical load report for all flight phases as required
  • Create detailed systems functional test instructions for the newly installed equipment/systems
  • Provide guidance to the draftsperson and designer, and review completed drawings
  • Estimate tasks schedule, prioritize tasks with little or no supervision and complete tasks within estimated schedule.
  • Perform research and on aircraft survey as required for the assigned project
  • Perform project engineer function assigned by the supervisor as needed
  • Communicate with Supervisor, and other company employees concerning duties performed and results obtained. Adhere to all Southeast Aerospace company policies, safety guidelines, and code of ethical conduct
  • Other tasks as assigned by supervision and company management.

Qualifications

  • BSEE or BS Avionics Engineering
  • Thirty-six months direct systems integration design experience
  • Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD LT 2014 required
  • Computer skills using Windows 7/10 and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work in a highly technical fast paced environment
  • Ability to adapt to new software application and function with minimal training or by self-training
  • Knowledge of Military Standards and Specifications, and SAE Standards and Recommended Practices
  • Professional presentation interpersonal skills over the telephone, via email and in person
  • Read, write and communicate using English language and proper grammar sufficient to perform the job functions (due to the nature of the job, will be communicating in English)
  • Professional office environment experience which required interaction with internal and external customers
  • Work as a contributing member of a team
  • Work within company published policies
  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Parts 23, 25, 27 and 29 preferred

Overview

The Program Manager will oversee government contracts/programs for aircraft modifications including fixed-wing and rotorcraft. The efforts may include FAA Supplemental Type Certification (STC) and military airworthiness certification. Routine site visits and meetings with the government are required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute the delivery of programs and projects assigned as well as activities in alignment with the customer's requirements and in accordance with company standards and polices
  • Develop and implement benchmarks and goals that aid in the achievement of successful outcomes for programs and projects
  • Develop program evaluation frameworks to assess the strengths of programs and to identify areas that may require improvement
  • Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant airworthiness standards
  • Assist the Program Management Office (PMO) with additional program research and oversight as needed
  • Communicate with other managers (internal and external) to ensure effective and efficient program delivery
  • Coordinate the delivery of services among different program activities to increase effectiveness and efficiency
  • Ensure that programs operate within the approved budget and are delivered on-time
  • Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control such risks
  • Report evaluation findings to the PMO and recommend changes to enhance the program, as appropriate
  • Assist with proposals when needed

Qualifications

  • Five (+) years of experience in aerospace manufacturing and/or modifications (i.e. Fixed-wing commercial and/or government)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification required
  • Experience managing aircraft modification programs with multiple locations preferred
  • Experience managing military airworthiness programs that required Modified Airworthiness Certification Criteria (MACC) required
  • Experience managing aircraft simulator manufacturing or modification programs preferred
  • Experience implementing and maintaining an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) including resource loading
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project and simple accounting software
  • Familiarity with FAA airworthiness (i.e. PMA, STC, DER/DAR approvals, A/C return to service) and/or familiarity with US government Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) is preferred

Overview

The Southeast Aerospace Business Development Manager, Government Programs will help Southeast Aerospace grow and expand by creating contacts and relationships with new and existing Aerospace and Defense customers for potential aircraft modification business.

Responsibilities

New Business Development

  • Review existing customer base for potential aircraft modification business
  • Monitor government Request For Information (RFI) and Request For Proposal (RFP) opportunities and develop a strategy and response with the Program Management Office (PMO) to capture these opportunities
  • Identify potential customers, and the decision makers within the customer’s organization.
  • Research and build relationships with new customers.
  • Negotiate contracts alongside the PMO.
Customer Retention
  • Follow-up with and visit existing customers to identify any upcoming requirements that SEA can assist with.
  • Follow-up on open proposals with new and existing customers.
  • Work with the PMO, engineering and other internal colleagues to meet customer needs.
  • Arrange and participate in internal and external customer debriefs.
Business Development Planning
  • Attend industry functions, such as association events, conferences, industry days and provide feedback and information on market trends.
  • Develop a strategy to increase our presence in the U.S. government aviation community.
  • Present to and consult with mid and senior level management on business trends with a view to developing new services and products.
  • Identify opportunities for government mandates, mission requirements and services that will lead to an increase in sales.
  • Using knowledge of the market and competitors, identify and develop the company’s unique selling propositions and differentiators.
Management and Research
  • Submit monthly progress reports and ensure data is accurate.
  • Ensure that data is accurately entered and managed within the company’s CRM or other sales management system.
  • Forecast sales targets and ensure they are met by the team.
  • Track and record activity on proposals and help to close deals to meet these targets.
  • Work with QA to ensure that prerequisites (like prequalification or getting on a vendor list) are fulfilled within a timely manner.
  • Ensure all team members represent the company in the best light.
  • Present business development training and mentoring to business developers and other internal staff.
  • Research and develop a thorough understanding of the company’s people and capabilities.
  • Understand the company’s goal and purpose so that will continual to enhance the company’s performance.
