In relation to NE (New) parts, many OEMs change their prices and availability without any notice to dealers or the industry. Therefore, through the REQUEST or RFQ indication, we ask that customers contact us for the most accurate price and availability.

In relation to SV & OH parts, the used parts aftermarket in the aviation industry is not an infinite supply. It is a dynamic, constantly changing market that is significantly affected by and susceptible to highs and lows in supply and demand. Therefore, although we attempt to, at times, we are unable to predict the exact moment when an item may be available. Once again, through the REQUEST or RFQ indication on our website, we ask that customers contact us for the most current and accurate price and availability.

Southeast Aerospace recommends the Honeywell ART-2000 system for the following reasons:

- Cost - Aftermarket availability
- Installation flexibility
- Post-installation support

Most MFD, integrated avionics systems of glass cockpit systems that accept a weather radar input are compatible with the ART-2000. The Garmin GWX68 is not readily available on the used aftermarket and is higher in cost than the ART-2000 ($20995 vs. $18215 List Price). Furthermore, the Garmin GWX68 can only be serviced by the Garmin factory. Both systems offer most of the same desired features such as high power out, 90 degree scan, vertical profile scanning, and 10 or 12 inch antenna arrays
Units below serial number 1719 that do not have Service Bulletin 3 incorporated have the older style Logic, Pre-amp and Power Supply Boards. These older boards are no longer available and if any of the three fail, all of the boards must be changed as the newer style boards are not compatible with the older boards. This modification can only be performed at the factory and since the cost of the service bulletin is so close to the price of an overhauled unit; it is typically not cost effective to add this service bulletin.

According to Service Aid ART 2000-104 and ART-2000 maintenance manual, the unit must be altitude tested to 55000 feet after the magnetron is replaced. In addition, the AFC and STC curves need to be recalibrated over the temperature ranges of 25, -55, -30, -5, 45 and 70 degrees C.

Therefore, calibrated altitude and environmental chambers are needed for altitude and temperature testing mentioned above. Southeast Aerospace's Service Department is one of a very few authorized Honeywell service centers that possess and utilize the necessary chamber and facilities for this testing. Please contact our Service Dept for more details.

The Bendix/King RDR 2000 Installation Manual (006-00643-0007), on page 1-1 states:

"The ART 2000 can be installed as a replacement (with a connector change) for the RS 181A or the RS 811A in an existing RDS 81 or RDS 82 installation. If installed with an existing IN 812A, however, Vertical Profile and tracking are not supported by the IN 812A. If using an IN 182A that is not Vertical Profile compatible, the Vertical Profile feature of the ART will not be supported. IN 182A indicators with part numbers of 066-3084-10 and 066-3084-11 are not compatible with the RDR 2000 system."

In addition, there is a "RS-181A/811A to ART-2000 Harness Connector Replacement" diagram in the RDR 2000 Installation Manual on page 2-99, Figure 2-49.
When an Analog Gyro Source is interfaced to the ART-2000 or ART-21000 for stabilization, there is a parameter on the CM-2000 programming for Analog Gyro Compensation.

The reference voltage for some analog gyros decreases in operation. The decreased voltage is more noticeable under heavier loads. When the voltage decreases, the pitch and roll gain values are too high. The "Compensate for Ref Drop" option should be selected to set the gain values in ratio of the initial reference voltage to the current reference voltage. This will monitor the 400Hz Ref and as loads are added that cause ref voltage to drop it compensates.

In almost all cases, the "compensate for ref drop" should be and can be selected in case of a voltage drop from the gyro.
No, radome kits and installation directions must be ordered directly from radome manufacturers or supplied by the aircraft manufacturer.

To fully and properly utilize all features and functions of the ART-2000, the following indicators should be interfaced:

Various EFIS indicators are also compatible with the ART-2000.  Please refer to the RDR-2000 Installation Manual for complete details.

A vertical gyro or AHRS input must be provided to fully stabilize the ART-2000. The gyro should provide excitation, pitch and roll signals for the stabilization circuits in the ART-2000. It is recommended that isolation transformers be used for pitch/roll inputs when the ART-2000 is interfaced with a gyro that does not have isolated outputs for radar stabilization.

For aircraft that do not already have such pitch and roll outputs available, Southeast Aerospace recommends the Collins 332D-11A or 332D-11T.

Negotiating the exchange price of a unit only limits the allowable repair cap for the core unit. Southeast Aerospace's exchange transactions are based on the return of economically repairable core unit. Once the core is received and evaluated, the core repair cost incurred by SEA cannot exceed 75% of the original exchange price. That is, it cannot cost SEA more than 75% of the original OH/SV exchange price collected from the customer. Therefore, when and if an SEA exchange price is discounted, there is a risk that additional charges may be assessed once the core is returned and evaluated.

The main difference between the ART-2000 and the ART-2100 is that the ART-2100 has 50% more transmit power than the ART-2000. The range on the ART-2000 is 240 nautical miles while the ART-2100 has a range of 320 nautical miles. The ART-2100 also has a 120 degree scan instead of the 90 degree scan as with the ART-2000. The ART-2100 also has additional features such as autorange which alerts the pilot when radar energy cannot penetrate and autotilt which manages the tilt angle as the aircraft climbs or descends.
Quadraxial cable shield is required for transmission of the ARINC 453 data from the ART-2000 to the indicator or MFD. In some cases, the ARINC 453 data lines can create noise that can be picked up by other systems in the aircraft. The Quadraxial or Quadrax cable can be purchased through Honeywell under P/N 024-00064-0000, which is quite expensive. Although, it is not officially listed in the installation manual, this Quadrax can be purchased under the generic P/N from Southeast Aerospace at a significant price difference.

The ART-2000/2100 has a dipswitch with eight settings used for installation functions. The dipswitch must have the correct configuration for the radar to recognize the size of the installed antenna. Please see the images below to locate the dipswitch on your unit.

If a 10" antenna is being installed, the #4 Switch & #5 Switch must both be in the "ON" position. If a 12" antenna is being installed, the #4 Switch must be in the "OFF" position & the #5 Switch must be in the "ON" position. The setting is on when the switch is positioned towards the center of the unit.

The ART-2000/2100 has a dipswitch with eight settings used for installation functions. The dipswitch must have the correct configuration for the radar to perform properly. Please see the images below to locate the dipswitch on your unit.

Depending on the position of Switch #2, the scanning function may be disabled. You must verify that Switch #2 is in the "ON" position. The setting is on when the switch is positioned towards the center of the unit.

The ART-2000/2100 has a dipswitch with eight settings used for installation functions. The dipswitch must have the correct configuration for the radar to perform properly. Please see the images below to locate the dipswitch on your unit.

Depending on the position of Switch #1, the transmitting function may be disabled. If transmitting is disabled, "Tx Flt" may be displayed. You must verify that Switch #1 is in the "ON" position. The setting is on when the switch is positioned towards the center of the unit.

The CM-2000 Configuration Module saves the configuration and calibration information for the ART-2000/RDR-2000 system. The module can be programmed with configuration data via EFIS-40/50 with EFIS software level 09 or higher. Otherwise, the Configuration Module must be programmed with configuration data outside the system using the KPA-900 Configuration Module Programmer Kit #P/N 050-03311-0003# with a personal computer. All calibration data is programmed with the module in the system regardless of the type of installation.

Please note that while the CM-2000 configuration modules stores certain aircraft specific parameters that are utilized by the system, other adjustments and settings must be made in the system following installation. Please refer to the RDR-2000 Installation Manual for complete details on the proper way to configure the RDR-2000 / ART-2000 system.
Many avionics systems require a configuration or setup process. This process is required to interface certain avionics systems to other systems in the aircraft that will be inputting or outputting information to and from these systems. Some examples of systems that require a configuration or setup process include:

Autopilot
EFIS
GPS
EGPWS
EHSI
RADAR
TAWS
TCAS

In addition, most newer technology or solid state systems require configuration via computer interface of some type. A qualified avionics technician should always refer to the appropriate manufacturer's installation manual for complete information and instructions.
While all installations require standard hardware supplies and tooling common to avionics installation facilities, the KPA-900 configuration module programmer kit is required to program the CM-2000 configuration module. The configuration module is used to save parameters and settings needed for the ART-2000. The KPA-900 is not part of any installation kit and must be obtained by the installer. The KPA-900 kit (P/N 050-3311-0003) includes an operators guide, programmer, and software disc. A compatible computer is needed as well to interface with the KPA-900. List price for the KPA-900 kit (2008) is approximately $1250.
Radar stabilization uses an aircraft's vertical gyro (if equipped) to maintain the selected radar antenna beam relative to the horizon. Therefore, while in a turn, the radar will maintain the selected tilt angle instead of changing in relation to turn.
At present SW (software) level 01/09 with MOD-6 is required in the ART-2000 to be compatible with the KMD-850. Any ART-2000 unit below this level can be upgraded to this level by Honeywell at no charge.
