CNC Machinist III

JOB DESCRIPTION & REQUIREMENTS:
The position of Machinist III / Programmer fabricates parts and assemblies from raw materials to finished products in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Compensation: Depends on relevant experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Set up and operate CNC machines (milling, turning, or grinding) to produce complex aerospace components.
  • Program CNC machines using G-code and CAM software (Mastercam, Fusion, etc.).
  • Develop and modify CNC programs for various parts and materials.
  • Troubleshoot and debug programs to ensure efficient production.
  • Implement toolpath optimization strategies to improve cycle times and reduce waste.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in CNC programming techniques.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications to ensure accurate machining.
  • Monitor production processes to maintain quality standards and meet tight tolerances.
  • Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimize machining processes.
  • Measure/inspect parts to determine accuracy, using height gage, calipers, micrometers, CMM, or other measuring instruments to ensure conformity throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Ensure availability and traceability of materials used to fabricate parts and accurately track and record materials being used.
  • Document actions taken on manufacturing orders.
  • Perform in-process inspections to verify dimensions and surface finishes.
  • Adhere to AS9100 quality standards and FAA regulations.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains.
  • Propose and implement improvements to machining techniques and tooling.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on machinery and shop equipment.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions (as determined by the supervisor) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Remove burrs and sharp edges from parts.
  • Assemble parts using conventional and non-conventional hardware and tools.
  • Clean and maintain shop tools, equipment and machinery.
  • Adhere to all Southeast Aerospace company policies, safety guidelines, and code of ethical conduct
  • Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Skills

  • Computer aided design CAD software
  • Computer aided manufacturing CAM software
  • Office suite software

    Minium Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a CNC Machinist/Programmer in an aerospace or similar environment.
  • 3 years’ experience working with programming software, preferably Fusion, Mastercam.
  • Familiar with geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • In-depth understanding of aerospace materials, processes, and quality standards.
  • US Citizen as defined in FAR 22CFR 120.15 for required matters.
  • Team oriented with good interpersonal skills.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and train junior machinists.
  • Positive attitude.
REQUIREMENTS

Physical Requirements

  • Able to stand at his/her work station for long periods of time.
  • Frequently load and unload parts and fixtures including machining vices.
  • Be able to bend, lift, and work in all environments.
  • Comfortable wearing proper PPE for the duration of the work day.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination required for operating machines and handling tools.
