In relation to NE (New) parts, many OEMs change their prices and availability without any notice to dealers or the industry. Therefore, through the REQUEST or RFQ indication, we ask that customers contact us for the most accurate price and availability.

In relation to SV & OH parts, the used parts aftermarket in the aviation industry is not an infinite supply. It is a dynamic, constantly changing market that is significantly affected by and susceptible to highs and lows in supply and demand. Therefore, although we attempt to, at times, we are unable to predict the exact moment when an item may be available. Once again, through the REQUEST or RFQ indication on our website, we ask that customers contact us for the most current and accurate price and availability.

Southeast Aerospace recommends either the RA Miller AT-1108/ARC or Sensor Systems S65-8282-34 antenna for aircraft with both VHF and UHF band radios.

If you are adding a UHF radio such as the Bendix/King KTR-909 to an aircraft already fitted with a VHF radio and wish to keep that VHF radio installed, then the RAMI AT-1108/ARC is recommended to replace the existing VHF antenna. The AT-1108/ARC includes separate coax connections for the VHF and UHF antenna lines.

If you are adding radio that covers both the VHF and UHF bands such as the Cobham (Wulfsberg) RT-5000 Flexcomm, then the Sensor Systems S65-8282-34 is recommended due to its single coax connector design.

The CD-5000 control is a simple, smaller design that is used for the Basic models of RT-5000 (P/N 400-015525-0101/-0501 only). The CD-5000 is Pilot ready with basic flip flop operation and requires less training than the C-5000. The CD-5000 is limited in only controlling 1 RT-5000 and does not support room for growth or upgrade abilities.

On the other hand, the C-5000 is meant to be a RT-5000 and system controller, and is compatible with all RT-5000 models. The C-5000 is a larger design and operation is more involved, requiring Pilot training before use. In addition to more capabilities and functions, such as Relay, Repeat & Simulcast, the C-5000 can also control 2 RT-5000s from a single point.

Simply put, if you are looking for basic functions, while only using 1 RT-5000, the CD-5000 is more than adequate for your needs. You can find more detailed information on these systems on their SEA product pages: CD-5000 / C-5000.

Due to the lack of availability and high price of the Collins ARC-182 tactical radios, Southeast Aerospace recommends the more available, capable, and cost effective Cobham Flexcomm II RT-5000 as a more ideal solution for tactical radio requirements. Paired with the compact CD-5000, the RT-5000 offers radio communications in the range of 29.7-960 MHz depending on the antenna configuration. The CD-5000 is straightforward and easy to use.

Guard is a term used to describe a special option on tactical radios. This special option is a dual monitoring system that continually monitors emergency channels (either a preset or selected channel, depending on unit options) for broadcasts, while still receiving on the main receiver. The radio will annunciate a notice when there is a broadcast on the emergency channel. Annunciation type depends on the particular unit and set up options.

This feature is particularly useful for search and rescue mission aircraft.

The RT-5000 system frequency range is 29.7 - 400 MHz (AM), 29.7 - 960 MHz (FM). However to use the maximum frequency range, you must have an appropriate antenna for the system. The antenna used with the system determines the possible frequency range of the RT-5000.

Antennas such as the AT-550, AT-560 and AT-5000, coupled with the appropriate tuner, will reach the full span of the frequencies offered by the RT-5000. The downside of purchasing an antenna for the full frequency range is the high cost involved; an antenna system such as the ones mentioned above, cost as much as $10,000 new condition. Otherwise it is recommended that you purchase and install antenna(s) designed for your desired frequency range.
